The aggregate production figures (April to June) released by the major western producers, including some estimates, was 35.58 million pounds in North America and 39.97 million pounds in Central South America, totaling 75.55 million pounds, down by 3.6% from 78.38 million pounds produced during the preceding quarter.
The western world annual molybdenum production has been increasing since 2009. But the annual growth seems slowing down this year.
Molybdenum price has been softening since the beginning of 2012 and hit a 3-year low for molybdenum oxide concentrates, and will be subject to following factors, such as increasing output by China, weak demand from Europe.
