TZM Alloy

The common preparation methods of TZM alloy (Mo Zr Ti alloy): Arc melting casting and powder metallurgy. TZM alloy bar: The method of arc melting and casting is to add pure Ti, Zr and other alloying elements according to the weight percentage after melting pure molybdenum by arc, and then use the conventional method to obtain TZM alloy (Mo Zr Ti alloy). Powder metallurgy has a unique chemical composition and mechanical, physical properties, and these properties can not be obtained by conventional melting method.

The high purity molybdenum powder was mixed with TiH2 powder, ZrH2 powder and graphite powder according to proportion, and then formed by cold isostatic pressing, and then sintered at high temperature under protective atmosphere to obtain TZM blank. The billet is then subjected to high temperature hot rolling (high temperature forging), high temperature annealing, medium temperature hot rolling (medium temperature forging), medium temperature annealing to eliminate stress, and then warm rolling (warm forging) to obtain TZM finished material. The rolling (forging) process of blank and subsequent heat treatment have great influence on the material properties, anisotropy and texture. Using powder metallurgy method can save the vacuum consumable arc furnace, large extruder and hammer and corresponding high temperature heating furnace and other large equipment, to simplify the process and shorten the production cycle, reduce energy consumption, production capacity and increase yield, so the cost is greatly reduced.

TZM alloy (Mo Zr Ti alloy) is usually prepared into rods and plates.
