Refractory Metals for the Construction of High-Temperature Furnaces

For economic reasons, only refractory metals (molybdenum, tungsten, tantalum, niobium and their alloys) are used as construction materials for high-temperature furnaces.

These refractory metals are available in sufficient quantities and can be worked and machined fairly easily. Besides their high-temperature stability, their reactions to different furnace atmospheres and to other furnace construction materials have to be taken into consideration.

The most important advantage of refractory metals is excellent high-temperature strength. Refractory metals have good corrosion resistance to molten alkali metal and vapour.

The main disadvantage of refractory metals is bad high temperature anti - oxidation performance.

Refractory metals are widely used in metallurgy, chemical engineering, electron, light source, mechanical industry and other fields.

Refractory metals can be used as additive of iron and steel, nonferrous metal alloys.

Refractory metals are able to applied as hard alloys to make cutting tools, mining tools, producing moulds.

Refractory metals can be used as filamentary cathode, negative electrode, electrical condenser in electron, electric light source and other fields.

Molybdenum and tungsten manufacturer-Zhengzhou Sanhui Co., Ltd has been dealing in refractory metals for 25 years.

Come to Sanhui for standard or customized metal products. We customize refractory metal products according to customers’ drawings.
