In addition to the usual alkaline cleaning, like other metals, the cleaning method of molybdenum bars is also by means of pickling. Here I will recommend a program to you: The 50% volume ratio of nitric acid and 10% volume ratio of hydrofluoric acid  to clean. The cleaning process temperature must be controlled between 102 and 150 degrees Fahrenheit.

This kind of mixed acid pickling not only can effectively remove the oxide on molybdenum rod, but also it can remove the copper left on the products produced by EDM steps. After pickling molybdenum products must be cleaned repeatedly in clear water.

In view of the mixed acid is high risk items, all the cleaning steps should take strict precautions. Appropriate safety devices for the cleaning of the molybdenum bar include face masks, acid resistant gloves, chemical resistant apron and boots, and very good ventilation.
