TZM High-temperature Furnace Construction

Compared with pure molybdenum, TZM shows increased strength and a higher recrystallization temperature. Therefore, TZM is an excellent construction material for high-temperature furnaces and for hot isostatic presses: like heat radiation shields, supporting racks, holding racks, annealing boats.

Furthermore, TZM is used for the production of sintering trays for powder-metal-lurgical products, for high-temperature ceramics and for the sintering of uranium-oxide and uranium oxide/plutonium-oxide pellets for reactor fuel elements.

TZM can be used under high-vacuum conditions at high temperatures, eg for electron tube construction. The low-oxygen quality, HV-TZM, containing a maximum oxygen-content is ideally suited to these applications.

Rotating anodes for X-ray tubes, where TZM is used as a base material as well as shafts and locking nuts, are also available in this low-oxygen quality.

TZM is used as an electrode material for the resistance welding of copper and copper alloys by impulse-spot-welders.
