During the period of 12th Five-Year Plan, Besides the chemical, metallurgy, electric power, salt and other titanium application fields, the demand for titanium of Chinese aerospace, ships, marine engineering, medical and sports and leisure fields will achieve a new period of development. Chinese large aircraft project, Change’s project, aircraft carriers and a new generation of fighter aircraft, nuclear power plant plans will have an explosive growth stage on the demand for titanium.
1. Chemical industry
The industry with biggest titanium consumption in chemical industry is the chlor alkali industry, which accounted for 50% of the total amount of consumption, followed by the alkali industry accounting for 20%, the plastic accounted for 17%, organic chemical industry accounted for 10%, and the inorganic chemical accounted for 3%. In all kinds of titanium chemical equipment, titanium consumption amount of the heat exchanger is most, accounting for 52% of the whole titanium consumption; followed by the anode, accounting for 24%; a variety of containers, pipes and valves accounted for 9%, others accounted for 5%.
It is expected that Chinese PTA requirements in2015, 2020 separately are 30million tons, 38million tons, which will undoubtedly bring opportunities to the application of titanium.
2. Aeronautics and astronautics
The demand for titanium products in the World aerospace (including commercial and military) accounted for more than 10%. At present, the titanium consumption of China Aerospace only accounted for 10%. With the implementation of Chinese large aircraft program, application of titanium in aerospace industry will get a great development. During 2009~2028, Chinese aviation industry needs 3770 new planes.
3. Medical treatment
The average compound growth rate of Chinese implantable medical device remained at 20%-30% in the past 10 years, the expected growth rate of the next 10 years will continue to more than 10%. In 2010 Chinese medical titanium material has reached 1084t. What's more, because people know more about the excellent performance of titanium, the cost of titanium is reduced and the continuous development of the processing technology and medical level. We expected that the titanium consumption amount will increase obviously.
