Molybdenum and Molybdenum Alloys

Molybdenum and molybdenum alloys may be classified as members of the less-common metals because of their special properties. They are especially useful as structural materials for service at high temperature levels where the properties of alloy steels and superalloys are inadequate.

Molybdenum and molybdenum alloys are useful at ambient temperatures because of their good thermal and electrical conductivity, low coefficient of thermal expansion, high modulus of elasticity, and non-magnetic properties. Unalloyed molybdenum and TZM (Mo-0.5% Ti-0.1% Zr) are resistant to erosion by liquid metals such as mercury, bismuth, lithium, sodium and copper.

The 70% Mo-30% W alloy is resistant to erosion by molten zinc. Molybdenum is also resistant to corrosion by mineral acids in the absence of oxidizing agents; Molybdenum is especially resistant to hydrochloric, phosphoric and sulfuric acids.

Unalloyed molybdenum and the TZM alloy are available in commercial mill-product forms: forging billets, bars, rods, wire, tubes, plate, sheet, strip and foil.

An are-cast alloy of 70% Mo-30% Wis available in a limited number of product forms for applications involving the handling of molten zinc.

Forging billets of the arc-melted grades are supplied in the wrought and recrystallized (fully annealed) condition.

Molybdenum and tungsten manufacturer-Zhengzhou Sanhui Co., Ltd provides a wide range of molybdenum and tungsten products, like rod, tube, wire and other products.
