Molybdenum Tube Rolling

Rolling is used in the production of plates, strips, foils and bars. Rolling extrusion billet smelting provides initial rolling temperature between 1200 to 1250 degrees, powder metallurgy of the billet temperature blooming is at around 1400 degrees. In order to reduce the uneven deformation, blooming when pass deformation should be 20 ~ 40%, every time after heating rolling deformation amount is about 75%. When the total deformation amount is more than 85% (the thickness is about 6 mm), the rolling temperature can be reduced to 700~900 degrees, when the thickness is 1~2 mm, the rolling temperature can be reduced to 200~400 degrees Celsius. Depending on the plastic brittle transition temperature of the material, the thickness of cold-rolled sheets is 0.5 to 1 mm. Cross rolling can be used to improve the anisotropy of the product. In order to obtain sufficient work hardening and improve low temperature plasticity, the proper cold processing amount of the final product should be about 70%.

Metal pipe processing: The molybdenum pipe is mainly made of ingot or sintered ingot, and it is made of various kinds of tubes by rolling, drawing or spinning by warm processing. Small diameter molybdenum pipes are produced by warm rolling in China. Blooming temperature is at 650 degrees Celsius, the final rolling temperature is about 350 degrees centigrade. Warm rolling pass processing rate is generally between 20 ~ 35%, the maximum can be more than 40%. For a molybdenum tube with a diameter of 8 mm and a wall thickness of 0.5 mm, the rolled tube can be up to 6500 mm. The hot rolled molybdenum tube has good internal and external surface, good room temperature plasticity, which can be further drawn into a capillary. Thin-walled tubes with larger diameter are usually extruded or sintered tube blank and then spun.
