The first half of 2012, Japan’s production, consumpution and imports of ferro molybdenum are as follows:
Ferro molybdenum production was 2,397 tons, down by 9.9% compared with the same period of 2011. Ferro molybdenum consumption was 2,746 tons, up by 5.4% compared with the same period of 2011. Ferro molybdenum imports were 782 tons, largely down by 43.7% compared with the same period of 2011.
The increase in ferro molybdenum consumption reflected the growth in production of special steel during the first half of 2012. The reason the drop in ferro molybdenum production was mostly because manufactures tried to reduce stocks based on the forecasted weaker market of molybdenum in the coming months.
